For the Cake*
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
1 cup boiling water
For the Chocolate Glaze*
½ cup heavy cream
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter

★Instructions
- Prepare the Cake*
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.
Gradually add boiling water and mix until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
If desired, fold in chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make the Chocolate Glaze*
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter.
Stir until the mixture is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Let the glaze cool slightly before pouring it over the cooled cake.
- Serve*
Drizzle the chocolate glaze over the cake and let it set before slicing and serving.
