Amish Cinnamon Bread, a quick and easy recipe with simple

★Ingredients

For the Batter.

2 cups sugar

1 cup softened butter

2 cups buttermilk (or homemade buttermilk using 2 cups milk + 2 tablespoons vinegar)

2 eggs

Juice from one lemon

2 teaspoons baking soda

4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture.

2 teaspoons cinnamon

2/3 cup sugar

★Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  • Stir in the buttermilk and lemon juice until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour and baking soda, mixing until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.
  1. Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Mix
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  1. Assemble the Bread.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two loaf pans.
  • Pour half of the batter into the pans, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
  • Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer, then sprinkle more cinnamon-sugar mix on top.
  1. Bake.
  • Bake for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack.
