★Ingredients
Sea salt flakes
1 ribeye steak
50g butter
Freshly ground black pepper
1 clove of crushed garlic, skin on
2 sprigs of thyme
★Instructions
- Prepare the Steak* Remove the steak from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature. This helps ensure even cooking.
- Season* Generously season the steak on both sides with sea salt flakes and freshly ground black pepper.
- Heat the Pan* Preheat a frying pan over medium-high heat. If cooking more than one steak, ensure the pan is large enough to accommodate them without crowding. Alternatively, use two pans.
- Cook the Steak*
Add the seasoned steak to the hot pan and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
For a 3 cm thick steak, the total cooking time should be around 5 minutes.
- Check Doneness* If you have a meat thermometer, check the internal temperature:
Rare* 50 °C
Medium* 60 °C
Well Done* 70 °C
- Finish Cooking* If desired, add butter, thyme, and crushed garlic to the pan during the last minute of cooking, basting the steak with the melted butter for added flavor.
- Rest* Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
Enjoy!
