★Ingredients
2 ½ cups (320 g) bread flour
¼ cup (60 g) plain yogurt
⅔ cup (160 ml) water (lukewarm)
1 tsp (3 g) fresh yeast or ½ tsp (2 g) dry yeast
A pinch of sugar (optional, to help activate the yeast)
1 tsp (6 g) salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
★Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix the lukewarm water with the yeast and a pinch of sugar (optional). Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour and salt.
Add the activated yeast mixture, yogurt, and vegetable oil.
Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough:
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook for this step.
- First Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Shape the Dough:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Shape it into a loaf by folding and tucking the edges.
Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan.
- Second Rise:
Cover the loaf with a damp cloth again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it reaches just above the edge of the loaf pan.
- Bake the Bread:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool and Serve:
Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Enjoy!
