★Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 large egg
1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
★Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Make the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the egg, melted butter, and the activated yeast mixture. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
- Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, you can use a stand mixer with a dough hook to knead for about 5 minutes.
- Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Shape the Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to remove air. Divide it into equal-sized pieces (about 12-15 pieces), and shape them into squares or rounds as shown in the picture. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes until they puff up.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter, and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Final Touch: After removing from the oven, brush with additional melted butter for a soft, glossy finish.
Enjoy!
