Peach Pie Recipe
★Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
5-6 fresh peaches (peeled, pitted, and sliced)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
1 package of pie crust (or homemade, if you prefer)
1 tablespoon butter (cut into small pieces)
1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling on top)
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
★Instructions
- Preheat the oven: to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the peaches: In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugars, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir everything until the peaches are evenly coated.
- Roll out the pie dough: Place one of the pie crusts into a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the peach mixture into the crust. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
- Make the lattice top: Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips about 1 inch wide. Lay the strips over the pie in a lattice pattern. Press the edges to seal with the bottom crust.
- Brush with egg wash: Brush the top of the pie with beaten egg, and sprinkle sugar over it for a nice golden color and added sweetness.
- Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Cool before serving: Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set.
Enjoy!!
