Classic Cheese Fries Recipe

★Ingredients

6 large potatoes, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons butter

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 ½ cups milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of your favorite cheeses)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Paprika, for garnish

★Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Cheese Sauce:

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-5 minutes.

Stir in the flour and cook for another minute.

Gradually whisk in the milk and cream, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

Add 1 cup of shredded cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  1. Assemble:

In a greased baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes.

Pour the cheese sauce evenly over the potatoes.

Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheese on top.

  1. Bake:

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.

  1. Garnish and Serve:

Sprinkle with a little paprika for color, if desired.

Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
