Stellini Pasta Pie with Meat and White Sauce

★Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter

Stellini pasta

2 cups milk

2 tablespoons flour

Nutmeg

Salt

1 onion, diced

Vegetable oil

500g (about 1 lb) minced meat (beef, pork, or a mix)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup tomato sauce

1 ½ cups grated mozzarella cheese

★Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven

Set your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  1. Cook Pasta
  • Prepare the Stellini pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  1. Prepare Béchamel Sauce
  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour to form a roux. Gradually add milk, whisking continuously until smooth and thickened. Season with salt and a dash of nutmeg.
  1. Cook Meat
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until tender. Increase heat, add minced meat, and cook until browned. Season as needed. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for a few minutes.
  1. Assemble Dish
  • In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked pasta, followed by half of the meat mixture, and then half of the béchamel sauce. Repeat layers.
  1. Bake
  • Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese evenly on top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  1. Serve
