Creamy with custard

★Ingredients

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

6 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup sugar (for caramel, optional)

1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

★Instructions

  • Prepare the Caramel (Optional):

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns golden brown and liquid. Pour this caramel into the bottom of your baking dish and set aside to harden.

  • Prepare the Custard Mixture:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs.

Add the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

  • Strain the Mixture (Optional):

For a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine sieve into your baking dish, which may have the caramel already set at the bottom.

  • Bake or Steam:

Baking Method: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking dish in a larger tray filled with hot water (water bath) to prevent the custard from cracking. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until set.

Steaming Method: Cover the dish with foil and steam for about 45-60 minutes, checking occasionally.

  • Cool and Serve:

Let the custard cool in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Once ready, you can serve by slicing or turning it upside down if you added caramel.
