Delicious apple pie flavored bread

★Ingredients

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup finely chopped apples (peeled and cored)

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

For the streusel topping*

  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

★Instructions

Preheat and Prepare* Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.

Make the Streusel Topping* In a small bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the streusel. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.

Prepare the Dry Ingredients* In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves until well combined. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar* In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, using a hand mixer or stand mixer.

Add Eggs and Vanilla* Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures* Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the applesauce, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Stir just until combined. Fold in the chopped apples.

Assemble the Bread* Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the streusel topping over the batter.

Bake: Bake in preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Cool and Serve* Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
