Meatballs with tomato sauce and cheese

★Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sauc*

  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Topping*

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

★Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatballs*
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
  • Cook the Meatball*
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a little oil.
  • Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. You may need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Once browned, remove the meatballs and set them aside.
  • Make the Sauce*
  • In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Combine and Bake*
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the meatballs in an oven-safe dish and pour the tomato sauce over them.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Enjoy!
