Old fashioned pound cake recipe

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon baking powder

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup whole milk

★Instructions

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix well after each addition.

Stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice and serve as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar, fresh berries, or a dollop of whipped cream.
