Slow cooker teriyaki chicken in crock pot

★Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

★Instructions

  • Prepare the Sauce*
  • In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
  • Add Chicken and Sauce to Crock Pot*
  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the Crock Pot.
  • Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated.
  • Cook*
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  • Thicken the Sauce*
  • Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the Crock Pot and set it aside on a plate.
  • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
  • Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce in the Crock Pot to thicken it.
  • Turn the Crock Pot to high and let the sauce cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  • Combine and Serve*
  • Once the sauce has thickened, return the chicken to the Crock Pot and coat it with the sauce.
  • Serve the chicken teriyaki over rice or noodles.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.

Tips*

  • For added flavor, you can marinate the chicken in the teriyaki sauce for a few hours before cooking.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas during the last hour of cooking for a complete meal.

Enjoy!
