Apple crispy bread recipe


  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large apples, peeled and diced (about 2 cups)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for apple mixture)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for apple mixture)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk


Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan*
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

Prepare the Apple Mixture*
In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Stir to coat the apples evenly. Set aside.

Mix Dry Ingredients*
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Mix Wet Ingredients*
In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup of brown sugar until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients*
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Assemble the Bread*
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon half of the apple mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the apples and top with the remaining apple mixture.

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, you can cover it with aluminum foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking.

  • Cool*
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Glaze (Optional)*
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread before slicing and serving.
